Doors Open Hamilton is happening this weekend and we are thrilled to have been joined by chair Barbara Murray today on MorningFile! Doors Open is the ultimate tour of anything from historical houses to modern marvels. Hamilton is opening up all those closed doors that you’ve been curious about to showcase the buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure and cultural landscapes that are shaping our city into what it is! It’s all happening May 6th and May 7th across town so be sure to check out their website to map out your route.

Whether you’re interested in watching Alpacas have a spa day, inquiring about Hamilton’s only backpacker’s hostel, or tasting some of Hamilton’s premium wine at Ridge Road Estate Winery, there’s definitely something for everyone. Check out the new coworking trends at CoMotion on King and the industrial beauty of the Cotton Factory on Sherman! Peep inside the studios at Digital Canaries and don’t miss out on all of the absolutely stunning historical churches, mosques and buildings that we have opening up their doors around town. The Eco-House at Green Venture will be open, along with McMaster’s own Nuclear Reactor and the Educational Archives and Heritage Center will be sure to dig up some lost memories for anyone who attended a school in Hamilton that’s now closed! You can get details on all of the locations including 16 brand new ones here.

Organized by the Architectural Conservancy Ontario Hamilton Region Branch in partnership with Hamilton Burlington Society of Architects, this event is celebrating 15 years of opening the city to endless excitement and curiosity. Pick up their guidebook in the April edition of URBANICITY and use the postcard inside to take selfies throughout the event for a chance to win a Canada 150 prize pack thanks to Cable 14! You can keep updated on all the new and old spaces that will be open this weekend via their social media @DoorsOpenHammer on Twitter and @DoorsOpenHamilton on Facebook.
