3 Generations of Black History Come Together in Hamilton

3 Generations of Black History Come Together - Civil Rights & Music @ Mohawk College Feb 27, 6:30PM

Legendary civil rights activist/speaker Minijean Brown-Trickey, former child soldier turned performer and peace activist Emmanuel Jal, and the Ugandan dance sensation Suubi Fusion Dance Troupe will be appearing in Hamilton to commemorate Black History Month.

The event will include performances from Suubi Fusion, a talk from Minijean Brown-Trickey and Emmanuel Jal, followed by a Q&A period. Brown-Trickey and Jal will speak on the topic of civil rights in the evolving world and their own redemptive journeys in life. Suubi Fusion Dance Troupe will share their culture through African song, dance, spoken word and African drums.

Part of proceeds will go to NEXIM International Development Organization’s charitable programs. Join us in this historic gathering representing 3 generations of Black History and lived experience!

Date & Time: Monday, February 27th 6:30PM - 9:30PM

Location: McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, Mohawk College 

Price: Free for Mohawk students (with valid student ID), $25 for non-Mohawk audience

Part of the proceeds will be donated to NEXIM International Development Organization (NIDO), a non-profit organization supportings local communities and students in Uganda gain access to education and human rights.
