The W.J. McCallion Planetarium, located at McMaster University, was the first Planetarium in Ontario that provided shows to the public. The McCallion planetarium is named after William J. McCallion, due to his central role in the development of the planetarium at McMaster University. Today he has presented to over 100,000 people and the McCallion Planetarium remains a fascinating place to learn about the solar system. It is truly a place for both entertainment and public education.

Earlier this week, Tumi sat down for an interview with the manager of the McCallion Planetarium, Ian Roberts. Ian is a PhD student in the physics department at McMaster University. During the interview, he discussed his love for astronomy and the importance of having a planetarium in Hamilton which acts not only as a form of entertainment, but serves educational purposes as well. He talked about how he developed his love for astronomy while doing his undergrad degree at Mount Allison University.

Ian Roberts also mentioned how beautiful and fascinating some moons are in the solar system - in fact, he said of these moons actually have water underneath them! He also talked about how beautiful the solar system looks from the planetarium, therefore attending these shows will be simply worth it!

Ian later shed some light on their upcoming events at the planetarium which is coming up February 8th, 15th and 22nd. You can find out more information about these events here.
