60 Seconds with Aeris Körper

"Aeris Körper exists to inspire each audience member, dancer and community participant to explore the endless possibilities that live in creativity, movement and dance to foster profound self-awareness and deeper human connections."

In their upcoming dance performance "Enemy Lines", choreographer Mayumi Lashbrook reflects on the actions taken against Japanese-Canadians during World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, her family along with over 22,000 Canadians of Japanese descent were forcibly removed from the coastline of British Columbia.

Taking a step back, she strives to understand these events in Canadian history. Enemy Lines gently reminds us of these painful pasts, the possibilities of our shared future and our unrelenting need for each other.
